"Of course it can. It’s a bit late anyway, I don’t think the doctors office will be open anyway." He smiled, releasing his hands from her tiny waist and bring his hand back to intertwine with hers. "Let’s go to bed than." He nodded as he went upstairs with her.
Once he approached their room he went into one of the drawers and got himself a pair of pajama pants. He undid his tie from the tux he had on. His family was always uptight and classy so he always found himself wearing something fancy around them. He felt if he didn’t, they’d scold him the whole night and whisper about him.
He went into the bathroom that was attached to their bedroom and quickly changed into his pajama pants. Leaving himself shirtless like he always did. He quickly brushed his teeth and placed his dirty clothes into the hamper they had in the corner of the bathroom.
Landon went back into their room and jumped into bed, grabbing the tv remote and turning on the tv. But keeping it at a lower volume. “So, a year from now we’ll have a little mini-me or a mini-you running around the house.” He smiled over at her. “Can’t wait.” He added before he placed his hand on her stomach, crouching down to her stomach and gave it a quick kiss then re-positioned himself to how he was before.
Gabrielle’s head was filled with so many questions as to how she would pull this off that it was starting to give her a bit of a headache. Her head pounded as they made their way to the bedroom. She watched him silently for a few moments as he undid the tie on his tux and grabbed his clothes to sleep in. He was very handsome — no doubt. It was part of the reason what made this relationship work so well for her. On top of the money, it was just the icing on the cake.
She sat down at her vanity in the corner of the room, staring at her reflection in the lit mirror. She reached down and pulled off her heels, her feet sore from being on her feet so often that night. She returned to start removing her make up and once she was done doing that she shrugged out of her dress and pulled on a pair of pajama shorts and a tank top. Gabrielle crawled into bed, watching as Landon had emerged from the bathroom.
She smiled at him weakly as he climbed into bed right after her. Things were quiet for a short while until he turned to her. She smiled at him.
"For our sake, I hope it’s a little you," She commented softly. She was such a terror as a child, she was sure he was the polar opposite — not really sure it mattered though because there was no child, there wasn’t going to be a "mini-me" running around. Once he re-positioned she moved closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Do you think I’d make a good mom?"
She wasn’t sure what possessed her to ask this question or where it was coming from — but she felt the need to ask it. She never thought she would because she had too many flaws but she wanted to know what he thought.
Landon still never managed to get that cheesy grin on his face. He seemed to forget about everything for now. He couldn’t wait to tell everybody. “Don’t get scared, plus I don’t think tonight would’ve been a good idea. My family seemed a bit off which was weird.” He shrugged, lacing his fingers together with hers now.
"I’m gonna go call my mom though, I’ll be right back." He smiled, quickly kissing her lips and going into the kitchen. Landon dialed his moms number, anxious for her to answer. The long rings seemed to take hours for him. Once he heard her voice he smiled again. "She’s pregnant, mom!" He said, practically screaming into the phone. He was pretty sure Gabby could hear him but he didn’t care.
Landon frowned once he heard his mom going on about Gabby. She had never been a fan of her so Landon was in for a long rant right now. He rolled his eyes at how pathetic his mother was being, he thought she would be at least a little happy for him but he was wrong. “Clearly you can’t be happy for me, talk to me once you actually care about me.” He rolled his eyes, hanging up the phone. It upset him a little bit but tried his best not to let it show.
He made his way back over to her, placing his hands onto her waist then pulling Gabby closer and trying to put on a small smile, even though he was hurt by his moms reaction. “So, shall we book an appointment to see the little thing then? Of course you’ll have to get further into the pregnancy so how about maybe 2 months from now?”
Gabrielle had the fake smile on her face but as soon as he had left the room to call his mother, she immediately let out a sigh of relief. Her face turned somber as she mentally kicked herself — how was she even going to get away with something like this? She could only trick him for so long until he notices that she’s not growing. That gave her a window — a small one, but a window nonetheless.
She ran her fingers through her hair nervously, racking her mind for possible solutions. She could actually get pregnant — but she doubt he’d want to have sex with her now that she’s ‘pregnant’ and she wasn’t sure if she would be willing to have a baby. A baby needed attention and love — two things Gabrielle wasn’t sure she wanted to give to someone other than herself. She could “miscarry” but that would take paying off the doctors and even if she could there was no guarantee that they would lie for her.
Her stern look was quickly replaced with a happy one as Landon entered the room once again, she could tell from his expression that the talk with his mother hadn’t gone too well. She couldn’t say she was surprised. She felt a pang of guilt for him — sure, she didn’t really love him but she did have some care in her cold heart for him. When he pulled her closer to him she rested her hands on his chest lightly. She went to say something but stopped when he brought up the fact that they needed to book an appointment to see the baby that she didn’t even have.
She quickly hid the look of panic. Shit!
"Can’t it wait until tomorrow?" She smiled, looking up at him. One of her fingers began tracing against his chest. "I’m a bit tired — and I just want to lay in bed with you."
Landon’s mouth managed to drop open when she told him that. “W-what? That’s not possible. We use protection I don’t understand?” He said, accidentally stuttering on the first word. He didn’t know how that would’ve happened. He was always 100% sure he kept it safe. Maybe they had drunk sex and he didn’t remember. Or just because the condom had a small hole in it. He wasn’t too sure.
His face softened up, he wasn’t sure if he was happy or not. He always loved kids but he was still mad about how she treated his family. “Don’t worry. You can stay, you don’t have to raise the baby alone I promise.” He said, wrapping his arms around her and giving her a hug, kissing her cheek once he pulled away.
"When did you find out?" He asked, curiously. He took the bag back from her hand and setting it down in the corner. He knew she wasn’t gonna go anywhere because if she did, he’d feel like a horrible person. He loved Gabby still, even if she didn’t get along with his family. He really hoped that they could sort everything out though.
"Does anybody else know? Are you sure you are, and that the pregnancy test wasn’t wrong?" He asked, a million questions were blowing through his mind. He did try and keep as much questions as he can to himself, just so he didn’t make her panic or make her nervous. Landon had a grin on his face, he knew now that he was ecstatic to have a little baby.
Gabrielle felt relief wash over her as soon as he wrapped his arms around her in a comforting hug. The lie had worked, almost immediately the anger from his face washed away and it was replaced with a gentle gaze. There was no way his gentle heart could throw out the future mother of his “child”. The crying came to an end as she sniffled, smiling weakly as he placed a kiss on her cheek.
"A few days ago," She answered shakily, "I wanted to wait until the right time to tell you to surprise you,"
She could tell he was eating up her every word, taking it in. She had no idea how she was going to get away with this lie — but if it keeps him from tossing her out onto the street, she’ll find a way to keep it going.
"Well I was late and I took three pregnancy tests just to be sure about it, I wouldn’t ever lie to you about something like this," She said, one hand reaching and grabbing his, wrapping her fingers around his. "I haven’t told anyone, I was going to say something at the get together tonight but I got scared."
She was such a good liar, she surprised herself sometimes. She felt a small pang of guilt strike but she brushed it off. She would find a way to get out of this, she always found a way.
"I just want us to be happy, Landon. I want to raise our baby together."
Landon glared right back at her, furious. “Maybe they don’t like you because you were never nice to them. You always treated them like you were better then them. You would give them dirty looks when they tried to talk to you. And every damn time we get together you don’t even try and socialize. You sit there on that damn phone like it’s the only thing you know how to do.” He said, at this point his voice was getting more louder and louder. He doesn’t remember the last time he was this mad.
Landon crossed his arms, pinching the bridge of his nose. He always did that when he was stressed, upset or angry. He was doing it because he was all three. He was stressed that the family hated her, when he loved her with all his heart. He was upset that she acted out the way she did. And he was angry because the way she treated his family was unbearable for him.
"You know what, we’re done. You run up all my credit cards, you treat my family like shit and you stomp all over me. You drain me, Gabby. That’s all you seem to do. You always push me to do more and more for you. What if I wanna do something for myself now? Goodbye." He said, and stormed upstairs. He had a feeling he would regret breaking up with her but that only seemed to be the only option for him right now.
As Landon went upstairs, he grabbed a suit case. He gathered the clothes from the drawers that belonged to her, stuffing them all into it. He grabbed her make-up, hair tools and toothbrush, stuffing them all in as well. He didn’t bother about all her other stuff like her shoes or the things in the walk-in closet. He just grabbed as much stuff as he can that was hers and shoved it all in.
He went back downstairs to see Gabby. “Here’s a suitcase. It should last you a few days. You can come back Wednesday cause I’ll be out all day.” He said as he handed her the suitcase. “Keep all the shit that I gave you here. Including watches, tvs, rings and even your car that I gave you here. I’ll call you a cab if you really need it.” He said, keeping a straight face this whole time. He felt that if he showed emotion, she would dig it out of him and convince him to let her stay again. Although he seemed to show no emotion, this was killing him inside.
The words hit her like a ton of bricks. This was the last thing she was expecting — she thought she had him wrapped just tightly enough around her perfectly manicured fingers that she could avoid this. She couldn’t be kicked out of here, she refused to.There was no place she could go, no family she could turn to if he had kicked her out of here. She’d have to live off the streets and she wasn’t about to let that happen if she could help it.
She had her ways to try and persuade him. He disappeared from her sights, heading upstairs leaving her to herself. She got up from the couch, starting to pace back and forth, racking her brain for all possible excuses to let her stay — to remain his girlfriend. She had worked too damn hard to get into Landon’s heart to just let it all go to shit.
He came back, a suitcase in hand and he quickly shoved it into her hands. She held it between her shaking hands as he told her that she was pretty much on her own, that all the gifts he had brought her over their time together were no longer hers.
Damnit… I have no other option
The words came out in a blur, not really processing what she was just lying about.
"I’m pregnant —" The words shocked even her as they escaped her lips, quickly she forced herself to cry, a trick she picked up from a few friends. "That’s why I was rude — my hormones, they must be really messed up."
"Please don’t kick me out Landon, I’m sorry I’ve been really terrible to you," She sniffled, "but I really do love you. I don’t want to break up with you. I don’t want to raise this baby alone."
Landon’s grip tightened on the steering wheel as he remembered what happened during tonight’s events. Landon walked in on Gabby picking on one of his cousins in front of everybody. Not only did that make his entire family hate her, but it was humiliating for him. Landon had always dated polite and respectful women, a girl who his family loved just as much as he did. Landon didn’t know the whole story, and didn’t want to. There was no excuse for her to talk like that to his cousin. One of the many important things to him are his family. And with his family disliking and not getting along with her, he wasn’t sure if she was the perfect match for him like he thought she was.
As Landon pulled up to the driveway, he looked over at Gabby with disappointment, He sighed and parked his car in the garage. He looked up at the big mansion before him then walked straight up to the garage door, unlocking the door and pressing a small button to close the garage. Landon took off his jacket and placed it onto a small coat hanger. He then, took off his shoes and placed them onto the shoe rack they had. He all this without talking to Gabby. He was beyond mad and felt like if she said anything, he’d burst out yelling.
Landon needed some time to calm down. So he went into the kitchen, put on the kettle, grabbed a mug and put tea bags down. He didn’t know what it was but tea always seemed to make him a bit calmer. But it was late and it would probably keep him up all night. Landon didn’t care though, he knew he needed to calm down more than he needed sleep. Once he heard the kettle whistle he poured the hot water into the mug, stirring it til the tea and the water collided perfectly. He put some milk and sugar in and drank it up.
After a few minutes he was done. He seemed he was ready to talk about what happened at the family gathering. He walked to see Gabby, trying not to make his face mad, “What the hell were you thinking?!” He said, trying to keep calm but he failed. He was almost yelling at this point. “That’s my family you disrespected, Gabby!” He ran his finger through his hair in frustration, not that his sweet girlfriend totally dissed his closest cousin.
It was a long and quiet drive home from the great big Parker family get together. She sat staring out the window, mildly annoyed with her arms crossed over her chest. She knew he was angry — pissed even. They had a few fights before, but she knew she was in deep water when he was silent like this. She didn’t particularly care — his cousin always annoyed her. Their voice always just went right through her and being more irritable than usual she couldn’t bite back her tongue any longer. She could tell his cousin didn’t care too much for her either so she didn’t really see the appeal of being nice to them for another get together.
She remained silent, not wanting to stop him as he got out of the car and headed inside. She followed suit, ready for him to scream and yell at her — tell her and beg her to at least try and get along with his family. It was endearing how much he cared for family but at this point it was just downright annoying. He was pretty much any girl’s dream come true, a prince charming… so how exactly did he end up with someone who was more interested in his money?
He was too nice, that was his big problem. She couldn’t tell you how many times she ran up that credit card bill just because she could, just because she knew that he would just tell her to slow down on the shoe shopping next time. Nonetheless, she could tell she was in deep water now. She followed him into the mansion, giving him a bit of space and went into one of the big living areas by the kitchen. She plopped down onto the couch and pulled out her phone and started scrolling through her Facebook, waiting for the storm to blow over.
Her attention was brought back to reality when she was faced with Landon who seemed a bit calmer. She listened to him yell and immediately frowned, scrunching up her face at him.
"Your family? Don’t act like your family has ever liked me." She said sternly, rolling her eyes at him. "I don’t understand why you even bring me along to your stupid family get togethers. Your cousin hasn’t ever liked me — I’m sorry if I couldn’t put on the fake ‘everything’s great’ facade for your family any longer."
